September 26th, 1888
Thomas Stearns Eliot was born in St. Louis. He was the sixth and last child of Henry Ware Eliot and Charlotte Stearns Eliot.

Eliot enrolled at Harvard University. He completed his undergraduate studies in three years and his masters in four.

He graduated from Harvard. He obtained bachelor's and master's degrees.

He travelled to Paris to study at Sorbonne for 1 year.

He studied at Merton College at Oxford University. Here he met Ezra Pound. They became lifelong friends.

'The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock' was published.

Eliot married his wife, Vivienne Haigh-Wood.

In 1915, he also began a teaching job at Highgate School.

He separated from Vivienne. A little time after their separation, Vivienne was admitted to a mental hospital where she spent the rest of her life.
