Conservation of Mass
For any system closed to all transfers of mass and energy, the mass of the system must remain constant over time, dm/dt = 0
1 of 8
Conservation of Momentum
The momentum of a system is constant if there are no eternal forces acting on it, F = ma
2 of 8
Conservation of Energy
Energy can neither be created of transferred but transformed from one form to another, Q -W = DEt/Dt
3 of 8
System
A continuous mass of fluid that always contains the same mass but whose shape/volume may change
4 of 8
Environment
The area outside the system boundary
5 of 8
Control Volume
Do not deform with the flow and mass, momentum and energy are allowed to cross the control volume boundary
6 of 8
Open Process
Flow through a control volume process
7 of 8
Reynolds Number Re
Inertial force/viscous force
8 of 8
