What is the basic theory of evolution?
That different speices have developed over time from simple life forms,
1 of 11
Who presented this theory of evolution?
Charles Darwin,
2 of 11
Why was his theory not accepted at the time?
-It conflicted with religious views that God made all the animals and plants on Earth, -He didnt have enough evidence at the time to convince scientists, -
3 of 11
Who was another scientist who developed another theory of evolution?
French Scientist-Lamarck
4 of 11
What was his theory?
-A characteristic which is used more and more by organisms becoems stronger and stronger and one that isnt disappears, -Any feature of an organism that is improved it passed to its offspring,
5 of 11
What evidence is there that lamarck's theory is wrong?
-His theory would imply that all other organisms would gradually become complex and simple organisms would disappear but this is untrue as there are still simple organisms

In the theory of evolution, how does evolution happen?
By natural selection
7 of 11
How does evolution happen by natural selection?
-Individuals in a species show a wide range of variation, -This variation is becuase of differences in their genes, -Individuals with characteristics most suited to the environment are more likely to survive and reproduce and are passed on to ofsprig
8 of 11
What are rapid changes in genes caused by and why do these occur?
Mutations in genes-Randomly or caused by a sudden change in the environment,

Describe the evolution of the peppered moth before the industrial revolution?
Before the industrial revolution, most peppred moths were pale as they were camouflages against the pale birch trees and moths with a mutant black colouring were easily spotted and eaten by birds-It gave white an advantages so more likely to survive

Describe the evolution of the peppered moth after the industrial revolution?
Due to pulltion in industrial areas, the birch trees then blackened with soot. This means the mutant black moths were now camouflages while the white variety became moe vulnerable to predators. The black variety now had the advantage-to survive,
