Why does Hitler want the Sudetanland?
It has 3 million German speaking people, one of his aims is to unify all German speaking people, for 'lebensraum', it would leave Czechoslovakia vulnerable to attack and gives Germany more power and influence,

Chamberlain returned to Germany at Godsberg and told a surprised Hitler that he had persauded Benes to agree. Hitler then asked for more like the immediate control of the Sudetenland without a plebiscite,

he was disappointed and returned to Britain and began to prepare for war. Children were evacuated, trenches were dug and armies were prepapared.
