When did the ideas of the NR become influential?
1980's. Ideas were closely associated with Reagan in the USA and Thatcher in the UK

Underclass. Which refers to people who are long-term unemployed and cannot be bothered to work. He believes they are responsible for the problems in society such as petty crime and anti-social behaviour. He believes they onlt have themselves to blame

Zero-tolerance. They believe that punishment should be much tougher and make an example of people

What do they blame the increasing crime rates on?
The incivilities and a breakdown in respect for authority. They blame fatherless families for this, and the lack of discipline inside and outside the home.
