The Nervous System

?
Name the parts of a neuron.
Axon, Fatty Sheath, Nucleus, Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Dendrites.
1 of 11
What is the Central Nervous System (CNS)
Brain and Spinal Cord
2 of 11
What is the sequence from Stimulus to Response?
Stimulus, Receptor, Sensory neuron, Central nervous system, Motor neuron, Effector, Response
3 of 11
What does the Peripheral Nervous System consist of?
Motor and Sensory Neurons
4 of 11
What three neurons are in the Reflex arc?
Sensory neuron, Motor neuron, Relay neuron
5 of 11
What is serotonin and example of ?
A neurotransmitter.
6 of 11
What happens in a Synapse?
An impulse is carried along an axon up to the synapse, The synapse releases neurotransmitters specfic to the impulse, The neurotransmitters bind with receptors on the post-synaptic neuron, The impulse continues through the neuron.
7 of 11
What are re-uptake channels?
Re-uptake channels take the remaining neurotransmitters so not too much is given.
8 of 11
How does Prozac affect Synapses?
Blocks re-uptake channels to serotonin cannot be removed from the synapse.
9 of 11
How does ecstasy affect synapses?
Ecstacy blocks the receptors on the post synaptic neuron, This increases the levels of serotonin in the synapse resulting in good feelings.
10 of 11
What is the Cerebral Cortex responsible for?
Intelligence, language, memory and consciousness.
