As he opposed all that Chancellor Ebert stood for, especially regarding the Treaty of Versailles which he saw as a humiliation,

On 13th March, 1920 when the Freikorps were being disbanded, Luttwitz proclaimed that a new right of centre nationalist Government was being established with Kapp as Chancellor.
