What were the effects of the First World War?
Millions of soldiers died, France and Belgium were in ruins, Germany and Austria-Hungary's government had collapsed. Britain and France were almost bankrupt, only America was financially strong.

What was the mood in 1919?
Britain and France felt that Germany was responsible so should pay reparations. Germany didn't feel solely responsible, but weren't invited to the Peace Conference so had to accept the treaty.

What happened at the Paris Peace Conference?
It lasted for 12 months from 1919-1920. 32 nations were represented, but no defeated countries were there. All of the important decisions were made by President wilson, Prime Minister Lloyd George and Prime Minister Clemenceau.
