Consists of neurons that send information to and from the CNS. It is divided into the Somatic and the Autonomic systems

Transmits information received by the senses to the CNS and sends messages from the CNS to muscles

The Autonomic Nervous System
It is divided into the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic systems. It links the CNS to internal organs and controls basic functions like breathing and digestion. (it cannot be controlled voluntarily)
