What does meiosis keep?
The chromosome number constant from one generation to the next

1) Crossing over during prophase I 2) Independent assorment

What are the two phases independent assortment occurs?
Metaphase I - daughter cells contain different combinations of maternal and paternal chromosomes. Metaphase II - daughter cells have different combinations of chromatids

What's the difference between meiosis I and II in Prophase?
Meiosis I follows DNA replication, Meiosis II doesn't. Crossing over occurs in Meiosis I, it doesn't in Meiosis II.

What's the difference between meiosis I and II in metaphase?
The alignment at the equator is different. In Meiosis I homologous pairs align on either side of the equator. In Meiosis II chromosomes align on the equator. Independent assortment occurs with homologous chromosomes for I and chromatids for II.

What's the difference between meiosis I and meiosis II in anaphase?
Chromosomes separate during anaphase in I, chromatids separate in II. There's 2 daughter cells in Meiosis I and 4 in Meiosis II. The cells are haploid in both meiosis I and II.

There's 1 division in mitosis and 2 in meiosis

There's 2 daughter cells in mitosis, 4 in meiosis.

In mitosis it's the same as the parent cell, in meiosis it's half that of the parent cells.

In mitosis they're dipload and in meiosis they're haploid.

Absent in mitosis, present in meiosis.

It doesn't occur in mitosis. It occurs in prophase I in meiosis.

It doesn't occur in motisis. It occurs in metaphase I and metaphase II in meiosis.

What's the difference between the genetic composition of mitosis and meiosis?
The cells are genetically identical with the parent cell and each other in mitosis. They're genetically different in meiosis.
