What is IVF?
in vitro fertilisation- is the procedure by which sperm and eggs from the couple or donors are fertilised in a petri dish in a lab and then inserted in to the woman

suitability of parents, age/sexuality, the question of spare embryos, cost to NHS, masturbation

What does Christian ethics say about the right to a child?
NO/YES because sanctity of life, child as gift from God, possible adultery, sanctity of marriage BUT Situation Ethics would be in favour- outcome is good (birth of a child)

What does Natural Law say about the right to a child?
NO because anything other than natural conception is wrong, masturbation,preservation of life- embryos destroyed, Absolute theory- doesn't think about consequences

What does Utilitarianism say about the right to a child?
YES/NO because pleasure vs pain, all actions judged by consequences, preference- couples happiness is considered, downs protect the status of the embryo, BUT happiness of greatest number- cost on NHS

What does Kantian ethics say about the right to a child
NO because categorical imperative- people treated as ends not means, all humans should have the same moral treatment, danger of treating human life as a consumer good, universalisation is hard in this case
