What is a displacement reaction?
A displacement reaction is when a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from its compound.

Will form a black layer of copper oxide but that does not require heat.

Floats on top of water moving rapidly spontaneously. Lots of heat is given off so the metal melts into a molten ball.Can burn with a yellow flame with a colourless solution forming.

Floats on top of water moving rapidly spontaneously. Lots of heat is given off the K bursts into a lilac flame while on the water. Bubbles of gas are released and forms a colourless solution.

Must be heated until it glows red before the steam can be passed over. will form a black solid.

Glows as steam is passed over producing a yellow powder which turns white once it has cooled.

Al foil will not react but small pieces will react when the oxide layer is taken off. Al powder will react from being heated to form a white powder.
