The Political Nation were those in early modern Britain with social, economic and political influence.

Finances. Inflation meant that for the monarch to have the funds they required, they had to ask the Political Nation for subsidies

The English economy was agrarian so land ownership remained central to power

The Great Chain Of Being was the idea of an ordered society set in pace by God, and that everyone should accept their place in society. It was believed that the position of the Political Nation was Gods will so remained in power.

The Privy Council advised the monarch on the usage of royal prerogative and issued executive orders known as Orders in Council as well as held judicial functions.
