The psychodynamic and behavioural approach dominated Psychology for the next 50 years.

Observed and Measured
Watson thought that a truly scientific Psychology should only study phenomena that could be observed and measured. Thus, the behaviourist approach was born.

Rogers and Maslow (1950s) & Set Behaviour
Rogers and Maslow developed the humanistic approach - argued that behaviour was determined by the individual

Humanistic psychologists emphasise the importance of self-determination and free will.

Cognitive revolution (1960s)
The cognitive revolution came with the introduction of the first digital computer. This gave psychologists a metaphor for the operation of the human mind.

Reintroduced the study of mental processes but in a much more scientific way than Wundt's earlier investigations.

Bandura (1960s) & Cognitive Factors
Bandura proposed the social learning approach which drew attention to cognitive factors.
