The Nervous System

?
CNS
The Central Nervous System
1 of 10
Myelin sheath
The fatty overing around the axons which help speed up neruone transmissions
2 of 10
Neurotransmissions
Impulses travelling from neurone (nerve cell) to neurone
3 of 10
Receptor cell
It is a cell that recieves the stimulus and converts it to an electrical impulse to be sent to the brain/spinal cord
4 of 10
Sensory neurone
A neurone that carries impulses towards the CNS
5 of 10
Dendrite
Large, long extension of a sensory neurone that carries impulses from the dendrite towards the axon
6 of 10
Dendron
A fine extension from a neurone which carries impulses towards the cell body
7 of 10
Axon
Long extension of a neurone that carreies an impulse away from the dendron towards other neurones
8 of 10
Axon terminal
Passes the impulse to other neurone
9 of 10
What is the order in which the impulse travels to the brain?
Stimulus -> Receptor cells -> Dendron -> Axon -> Axon terminals -> Spinal cord -> Brain
