QUESTION: What does ISOTONIC mean?
ANSWER: Isotonic is the muscle contraction, these are contractions that result in movement. The providing of movement in the limbs.

ANSWER: Isometric means the muscle contractions, these are where the muscles contract but there is no visible movement. Also where the whole body weight is being held in a balance and there is no movement.

QUESTION: The gymnast is holding a position on the dangling rings. What type of muscle contraction is taking place to allow the gymnast to hold this position?
ANSWER: The Isometric Muscle Contraction.

QUESTION: Can you think of a short term effect of physical activity that you could suffer?
ANSWER: You could have, increase in muscle temperature, muscle fatigue (tire/ache), increased demand for oxygen, increased production of of carbon dioxide or increased lactic acid production.

ANSWER: It causes muscle atrophy.

ANSWER: Because carbohydrates provide energy and top up the stored of glycogen in the liver and muscles. You find carbohydrates in bread, pasta or potatoes.

ANSWER: You need rest to help the fibres to repair and get stronger.

ANSWER: Your body needs protein for growth and repair. It helps repair damaged muscles caused by injury or exercise. You find protein in fish and meat.
