Describe the Sensory register
Stimulus from outside triggers register like sight sound and smells. Iconic memory:Info coded visually you see it Echoic memory: You hear it coded acoustically. Breifly stored in sensory register. High Capacity

Describe STM in the MSM
Limited capacity store. Average 7+2 or 7-2 items of information. Info coded acoustically last about 30 seconds

What is maintenance rehearsal?
Repeating material over again long enough for it to pass into LTM

Describe LTM in the MSM
Permant memory store. Capacity unlimited. LTM codes semantically. Memory has to be tranferred back into STM in a process called retrieval to recall it

HM brain surgery to relieve epilepsy removed hippocampus. Memory assesed in 1955 he thought it was 1953 when he thought he was 27 but actually 31. Bad recall, however performed well on immediate memroy span
