The Truman Doctrine
The Truman Doctrine was when Truman told American Congress (March 1947) it was American's job to stop the spread of Communism.

The Marshall Plan
America gave Europe $17 billion as aid (1948) to stop the spread of Communism because Europe was so poor. Most of the money was spent to buy goods from America.

The Berlin Blockade
On 23 June 1948, America and France introduced a new currency into Bizonia and West Germany. The next day the Russians stopped all road and rail traffic into Berlin. The Americans instead of fighting, they decided to supply west Berlin via air.

Consequences of the Berlin Blockade
1: Economic- It resulted in two very different economic regions and the West was richer than the East. 2: Military- Formation of NATO.

Causes of the Hungarian uprising.
Imre Nagy became Prime Minister of Hungary and wanted Capitalism. After Stalin's death Khrushchev agreed to move Soviets out of Hungary. The Hungarian army joined the citizens and Hungary wanted to leave the Warsaw pact.

The Berlin Wall Negative Impacts
USSR- Khrushchev wanted to lock people in East Germany and stop them leaving. USA- The Soviet Union closed the border without consulting the USA, people who wanted to leave East Berlin could not.

The Berlin Wall Positives Impacts
USSR- The wall meant that Communism would continue in East Berlin and the people would have to accept it. USA- It meant West Berlin had become a symbol of freedom and success for Capitalism.
