1) Economically, USSR was communist and believed in state control of industry and agriculture. USA was capitalist and believed in private enterprise. 2) Politically, communism meant a one party state and capitalist valued political freedom.

The Iron Curtain formed the imaginary boundary dividing Europe into two separate areas from the end of World War II in 1945 until the end of the Cold War in 1991.
