What are the two types of anti-depressants used to treat OCD?
SSRI's, and Tricyclics

What are SSRI's?
They prevent the re-uptake of serotonin by pre-synaptic neuron. They regulate mood and anxiety.

What are Tricyclics?
They block the re-uptake of noradrenaline and serotonin but have more sever side effects and therefore are second choice option of treatment.

What are anti-anxiety drugs?
Benzodiazepines are used to reduce anxiety, they slow down the CNS by enhancing the activity of the neurotransmitter GABA.

EVALUATION: Effectiveness
SSRI's are better than anything else, including a placebo.
