What is the plain weave?
In plain-weave fabric the warp and weft are aligned so that they form a simple criss-cross pattern. Plain-weave is strong and hardwearing.

What is the selvedge on a woven fabric?
The part whee the wefts on the edge double up so that the fabric does not fray from the yarns.

What is mean't by the straight grain of a woven fabric?
It means the line that goes straight up the fabric. Usually in line with the warp yarns.

What is a twill-weave fabric?
In twill-weave fabric the crossings of weft and warp are offset to give a diagonal pattern on the fabric surface. It's strong, drapes well and is used for jeans, jackets and curtains.
