Terminology for the structure of the Earth

?
Core
Is the solid centre of the Earth
1 of 16
Continental Crust
Is made out of Granit Rock. Continental Crust is thick but light crust that has land on top of it.
2 of 16
Oceanic Crust
Is made out of Balsalt Rock. It is thin but VERY heavy crust which is under the oceans.
3 of 16
Convection Currents
Is movment of the semi molten rocks due to the high temperture in the core,
4 of 16
Lithosphere (Lower Mantle)
The Earth’s lithosphere is the rigid outer layer that is made up of the crust and the part of the mantle just below it.
5 of 16
Asthenosphere (Upper Mantle)
Is on top of the Lithosphere (Lower Mantle) closest to the crust.
6 of 16
Mantle
Is full of semi molten rock between the Core and the Crust.
7 of 16
Pangea
At one time all of the Contnents were joined together but when Convection Currents moved them around and at the Plate Boundaries Volcanoes Happened!

Collision Zone
A Collision Zone is a type of Destructive Boundary. They form Mountain Ranges. Two Continental Plates of Low-Density, granite Collide, pushing Up mountains. This is where Earthquakes Happen.
12 of 16
Basalitic Lava (Cow Pat!) Shield Volcanoes, Just Lava!!
Is found on Constructive Margins. It is High Temputer and Very Low in silica, with Low Gas content. This type of lava has LITTLE Explosive Activity.
13 of 16
Andesitic Lava (Cone!) Composite Volcanoes, Layers of Ash and Lava!!
Is found on a Destructive Magins where Continental Rock are melted by rising magma. It is LOw Temperature, has More Silica and a lot of Dissolved Gas. AS a result this is much Less Fluid than Basalilic Lava. And is more likly to Explode
14 of 16
Composite Volcanoes
Is made out up of layers of Ash and Lava. And is on a Destructive Plate Boundaries.
15 of 16
Shield Volcanoes
Is made out of Sticky and runs out and is on a Constructive Plate Boundaries. And is just made out of Lava.
