What are Independent Samples T-Tests?
Compares the difference between two means from different groups. Split into two groups and do one test. Eg, Male vs Female.
1 of 9
What are the assumptions of an independent samples t tests?
Scores are independent; one score per participant. Homogeneity of variance; roughly equal variances in populations.
2 of 9
What is a T-Value?
A ratio of difference between means and a degree of variability in scores. (Small differences = low t values, Large Differences = more extreme t values).
3 of 9
What is t-distribution?
Sampling distribution used to determine probabilities for t-tests.
4 of 9
What is a degree of freedom?
The number of observations free to vary, related to the sample size. (N-1).
5 of 9
What are the assumptions of a t-test?
Data should be measured at the interval or ratio level and Data should be drawn from a normally distributed population.
6 of 9
What is Levene's Test?
Levene's test is an inferential statistic used to assess the equality of variances for a variable calculated for two or more groups. It assesses the assumption.
7 of 9
What is Cohen's D?
An effect size measure suitable for t-tests. Expresses difference in terms of SD. = mean difference/mean SD.
8 of 9
What is effect size "r"?
How much variance is due to IV. Varies between 0 and 1.
