What are the three components of the CPU?
The ALU, CU and registers
1 of 8
What is Von Neumann Architecture?
It's a computer architecture that has instructions and data stored alongside each other in the memory in binary.
2 of 8
What are the three main characteristics of the VNA model?
It consists of the memory, ALU and CU. Instructions are executed sequentially. Even if the CPU is very fast, instructions will be processed slowly if the connection between memory and the CPU is slow.
3 of 8
What is the purpose of the CPU?
To process data.
4 of 8
What is the purpose of the ALU?
To perform the arithmetic and logic operations necessary.
5 of 8
What is the purpose of the CU?
It coordinates the activities of the CPU.
6 of 8
What are registers?
Quick, small stores of data within the CPU.
7 of 8
What does the clock speed of a CPU tell you?
How many FDE cycles the CPU can complete per second (Hz)
