What are the advantages of using nylon/polyamide?
Very strong fibre, abrasion resistant. Lightweight, smooth, crease resistant. Thermoplastic, cheap, showerproof. Easy care, non-absorbent so dries quickly, resists some stains.

No stretch. Melts when burns, damaged by sunlight - yellows and weakens. Not waterproof

Very strong, hardwearing and abrasion resistant. Lightweight, cheap, easy care. Flame retardant, crease resistant, smooth. Non-absorbent, hygienic, washable. Thermoplastic.

Inexpensive alternative to wool. Strong and abrasion resistant. Wears well in constant use, lightweight, crease resistant. Non-absorbent, wicks moisture away, lustrous. Warm and cheap.

Prone to shrinking and prone to pilling.

What are the positives of elastane?
Good recovery, supportive, hardwearing and non-absorbent. Prevents creasing, washable, strong and unaffected by salt, sun, sweat e.t.c.
