What is a Sidereal day
The time it takes for the earth to spin once

What is a solar day?
The time is takes for the sun to appear in the same position in the sky that is 24 hours

Why are solar and sidereal days different?
Because the earth orbits the sun as well as spinning on its own axis

why do stars change position in the sky?
because as the earth moves round the sun the direction we face changes slightly every day so we see a slightly different patch of sky each day

Because it reflects light from the sun
