SSSI and a nature reserve, has sandy beaches with dunes and heathlands which contain unique species (Dartford Warbler, Spiny Seahorse, Grebes etc.).

Threats from humans
Anchoring boats in the breeding grounds of Spiny Seahorses, walking over sand dunes (foot erosion), in 2006 a fire destroyed 6 acres of heathland.

Soft unstable sand dunes under threat by destructive waves and storm surges (especially at the exposed South Beach.)

Sustainable Management
Boardwalks over the dunes, clear anchoring instructions, fenced off areas to allow Marram Grass to grow, fire beaters incase of another fire, information boards for tourists, conservation area managed by the National Trust.
