What is thinking distance?
distance the vehicle travels in the time between the driver noticing the hazard and applying the brakes
3 of 6
What are the two factors that affect thinking distance?
1) how fast your going - the faster your going the further you go 2) your reaction time - affected by tiredness , drugs , alcohol etc

What is braking distance?
the distance travelled while the vehicle is braking
5 of 6
What are the five main factors affecting Braking Distance?
1)how fast your going 2)the mass of the vehicle- longer it takes to stop 3)how worn the brakes are 4)speed of car 5)road surface- wet, icy
