What is simple linear regression?
A linear regression model with one IV & one DV
1 of 8
What is normal linear regression?
A statistical model which measures the relationship between variable (predictor and outcome v's)
2 of 8
State the characteristics of a normal linear model
1. For every value of the Pv, the distribution of the Ov is normally distributed
2. As the value of the Pv changes, there is a linear change in the distribution of the Ov
3 of 8
What is the formula for the normal linear model?
Mean = intercept + slope x predictor
4 of 8
What are normal distributions?
It is the probability distribution over a continuous random variable. They are bell shaped, symmetrical, unimodal
5 of 8
What is a continuous random variable?
A variable which possible values are numerical outcomes
6 of 8
Which variable is the independent variable?
X (axis) = predictor variable which is the IV. Something that we manipulate/change.
7 of 8
Which variable is the dependent variable?
Y (axis) = outcome variable which is the DV. Something we measure.
