States of matter

Solid
Particles are close, lattice and vibrate. When heated the particles expand due to more vibration and so the solid melts.
1 of 10
Liquid
The particles are closely packed in an irregular arrangement and can move around each other. When heated the liquid turns to gas.
2 of 10
Evaporation
When particles escape from their surface.
3 of 10
Boiling
Particles have enough energy to separate from each other.
4 of 10
Gas
The particles are arrranged totally irregularly and can move randomly.
5 of 10
Diffusion
The process by which particles move from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.
6 of 10
Melting
Solid----->liquid; the particles gain more energy and vibrate more
7 of 10
Evaporation
Liquid------>gas; the particles gain even more energy and break their forces of attraction
8 of 10
Condensation
Gas----->liquid; the particles lose some energy and gain forces of attraction
9 of 10
Freezing
Liquid------>solid; the particles lose more energy that they can only vibrate
