How should a headcollar/halter be put on
Approach positively, talk to the horse, make sure it is comfortable and smooth mane and forelock . Noseband should be high up with two fingers width. Tie up all parts. tie with quick release knot.

Where should a horse be tied up?
If in a box preferably with head towards the door. If outside need to consider lots of other factors. Do not leave unattended.

what is a dandy brush used for?
For unclipped or coarse coats. To remove mud or sweat. Not on bony parts.

What is a body brush used for?
All parts of stable or thin skinned horses. Removes sweat and grease. Can be used on mane and tail.

Why shouldn't you use a body brush on a grass kept horse?
Because it will remove vital grease that waterproofs the coat and keeps it warm.

What is a metal curry comb used for?
For cleaning the body brush and can be cleaned by hitting on wall or floor. Must not be left on floor or used on horse

How should you use a hoof pick?
Move from top to bottom carefully. Do not leave on floor.

What are rubber and plastic curry combs for
Rubber for removing sweat and grease from stabled horses in a circular motion. Very useful for removing spring coat. Plastic for removing mud and sweat but not on thin skinned horses

What is a Water brush for?
For damping down mane and tail or removing stable stains

What is a Leather massage or straw wisp for?
building muscle

What is a stable rubber?
For putting a final shine on the coat.

How many sponges should be used?
Three. One for dock, one for eyes and one for nose.

Use a brush to finish off the appearance of the hooves but also maintains suppleness.

To remove excess sweat and when washing off

For dividing mane for plating.

To finish off a tail and shape it. To protect when travelling.
