Can be carried on throughout life. They are often non-contact sports that rely on judgement and accuracy such as golf or bowls

What are the advantages of hosting a major event?
Tourists, money from spectators, poorer areas are improved, publicity, encourage younger people to do sport, home teams get more support, home teams are use to the environment

What are the disadvantages of hosting a major event?
Possibility of the threat of terrism, new facilities are expensive, destroys animal habitats, pollution, home teams have more pressure, homes/businesses moved

What is sponsorship?
Sponsorship is when a company backs performers financially in return for them advertising the company's product

What are the advantages to the sponsor?
Increased publicity, status increased by being linked to success and glamour, increased sales of their products, earning a lot of profit as they have got more sales

What are the disadvantages to the sponsor?
Negative events including drug use, cheating, crowd trouble which will effect your reputation, if the performer gets injured then the sponsor won't get much publicity, not all performers get lots of media

What are the advantages to the performer?
Free clothing from the sponsor, free equipment from the sponsor if they need it, they might even get paid for wearing sponsor's clothing and using their equipment, they can concentrate on training without financial worries

What are the disadvantages to the performer?
May be dragged into a contract where they have to wear the sponsor's clothing to appearances, if the performer gets sponsored by an alcohol or tobacco company then they will get a bad image for themselves, the sponsor can withdraw their sponsorship

What are the adavantages to the sport?
They also get financial support in addition to admission fees, the sport becomes well known as people will recognise it by their sponsors because there will be pictures everywhere

What are the disadvantages to the sport?
The sponsor can take out their sponsorship to a certain performer if they believe that they are giving their company a bad reputation or if there's no point in sponsoring a performer at the moment as they are injured

What are some acceptable sponsors?
Adidas, Samsung or Barclays Bank

What are some unacceptable sponsors?
McDonalds, Coca Cola, car sponsors, smoking companies have been banned, alcohol companies
