1 of 13
What is produce from spinning?
A smooth, continuous filament.
2 of 13
What are the 3 types of drying and setting the fibres?
Wet spinning, dry spinning, melt spinning.
3 of 13
What is wet spinning?
Where they are set in a chemical bath.
4 of 13
What are examples of fabrics that were wet spun?
Viscose and acrylic.
5 of 13
What is dry spinning?
Hardened in warm air.

What is the basic process of making a yarn? (3)
Cotton or wool fibres used. They are carded (combed) together to form a soft sliver. They are twisted together.
10 of 13
What are the reasons for twisting?
Adds strength, aligns fibres, adds texture and bulk.
11 of 13
What are the properties of a low twist?
