A few people know that if an orca's fin is collapsed, it is a sign of a injured or unhealthy whale, all male whales have collapsed fins in SeaWorld
Although SeaWorld disagrees and claim that is common among all whales.

Behind all the performances, these whales are severely unhappy and badly treated, when they are not performing, they are kept in a tight spaced tank which in many cases have no sign of light
Whales need space, they need freedom, they can’t survive in tight spaces, it’s impossible for them to do anything due to their large capacity

It’s not fair on them to take away their freedom.
Over 160 whales have died in captivity however in the wild; there have been less than 10 cases of dead whales.

On average male orcas live for over 30 years in the wild, it’s only natural for whales to live in the wild.
Tilikum was captured by fishermen; the family's effort to save and protect him went to waste, as they finally separated him from his family.

They target younger whales as they have less resilience and are a lot more fitter than the older generation.
Once at SeaWorld, he was kept in a small tank which was extremely cramped.

Do you really think these conditions are right for whales to live in he was?
How would you feel if all your rights were taken away from you?

On a daily basis, he was starved by staff and abused by the other whales.
Due to the abuse and neglect from the staff, the whales began to rebel against the staff.

Tilikum is most known for his acts of rebellion, 3 of his attacks were fatal.
Most of the attacks were during public performances, so these appeared all over the news, many questioned why would they attack?

This helped bring awareness to whale captivity. Many whales resort to violence because they see it as their only way to project their pain and feelings.
To project the sadness, SeaWorld has brought them. However these acts of rebellion often punished by starvation.

These whales are thousands and thousands of miles away from their family; imagine how it would feel not seeing your children again?
Imagine how it would feel not seeing your mother or fathers again?
10 of 15
These whales reacted like any human being would, fight for the chance to be with their family again.
They are extremely home sick and being treated horribly just makes things worst.
11 of 15
The whales have done nothing to us and we hurt and capture them, if we just left them alone everything would be ok for them; they wouldn’t be attacking humans and other whales.
What could you do about it?
12 of 15
Firstly you could raise and donate for a charity for whales in captivity.
You could also adopt a whale, there are many organisations that help find whales a safe and suitable home.
13 of 15
You could raise awareness by informing others about whale captivity, by protesting.
Another way is by making petitions to shut down parks such as sea world, in 2014 a petition by WDC was made, asking companies to end their connection with SeaWorld, it gathered around 270,000 signatures.

Countries such as Croatia, Hungry, Cyprus, Slovenia and Switzerland have specifically banned whale captivity
we CAN make a change.
