What is "specific heat capacity"?
How much heat is needed to raise the temperature of 1 kg of material by 1 degrees
1 of 5
What happens if an object has a high SHC?
It will take in a lot of heat without the temperature going up as much and the object can give off lots of heat without the temperature dropping too much
2 of 5
What is one use of a high SHC?
A hot water bottle or coolant
3 of 5
What happens if the object has a low SHC?
The temperature rises quickly with a low amount of heat energy added and it also gives off a small amount of heat and the temperature drops drastically
4 of 5
What is the equation for energy?
Energy = mass x SHC x temperature change
