Soft tissue healing - proliferation stage

?
What are the three stages of proliferation?
Granulation, contraction and epithelialization
1 of 9
Stage 1 - What tissue is generated in an open wound?
Granulation tissue
2 of 9
Stage 1 - What does granular tissue consist of?
Fibroblasts, capillaries and neutrophils
3 of 9
Stage 1 - what do fibroblasts stimulate?
The production of collagen
4 of 9
Stage 1 - what do collagen do?
It gives the tissue its tensile strength
5 of 9
Stage 1 - what do capillaries do?
They bring oxygen and nutrients to the wound and get rid of any waste products
6 of 9
Stage 2 - what happens when the wound starts to fill up with granulation tissue?
The margins of the wound begin to contract, caused by the collagen fibres
7 of 9
Stage 3 - what cells migrate across the wound and why?
Epithelial cells divide and touch each other in order to seal the wound
8 of 9
Stage 3 - in what situations will epithelial cells NOT migrate across the wound?
