What is a stratified sample?
This is where the proportion of your sample is equal to the proportion in the population

Why would someone use a stratified sample?
This is done to ensure a representative sample . The sampling frame will be divided into categories and your sample image is a ration of each category in the population

Systematic Sampling
This is when the researcher uses every Nth name listed on the sampling frame

Cluster Sampling
When the population is used, the research will select just a small are - for example a county if he was investigating the county and this is done to cut down expenses

Quota Sampling
This is where a set number of respondents are gathered without a sampling frame

Snowball sampling
This is secretive and used in cases when investigating people like drug dealers. One contact is established first and more contacts are then established through this initial contact

This is where you advertise for Volunteers and bribe them to take part,usually by offering money
