Society functions in an organic analogy, each part of society needs to function, in order for the rest to work.

Believed that education socialises working class children into accepting their subordinate status to the middle class (for Capitalism to survive, the working class must accept authority of ruling class)

Claimed that some institutions of society (police and military) purpose is to control through oppression of workers. Known as Repressive state apparatus.

Did a ethnograph of 12 anti school boys, they rejected school and other children within it- saw themselves as superior.
