What is the difference between a family and a household?
A family live together and are related through marriage or blood whereas a household have people who are unrelated living in the same house/flat eg. student households

How do functionalists view the family?
Finds the Nuclear family the best; It is based on love and trust, it will teach the children of the household the correct morals and values as well as giving care and support to tech other.

The nuclear family is the best type of family, women should stay at home and men should be the breadwinner.

How do Marxists view the family?
They dislike the nuclear family because they think it supports capitalism because it allows social inequalities to continue from one generation to the next.
