difference between cultures; can be INTRA (within) or INTER (between); superdiversity - smaller waves of immigration but from wider range of places

an increase in the range of things that we see as normal

caused by media/ increase of goods; can create an identity; leisure activities e.g. shopping days;

brands are worldwide; MCLUHAN - global village; national cultures less distinct, we're more interconnected, caused by media/travel

a culture within a culture, with differing norms/values to larger society

a mixture of two or more culture to form new ones; linked to globalisation

Creolisation - uprooting of plantations caused african and Christianity to mix, forming new religious practices e.g. voodoo

Cultural capital - skills/advantages passed on from parents; can be economic/social; are interrelated
