What is Crime and Deviance?
Crime is an illegal act (such as shoplifing or murder) which is punishable by law. However, deviance is behaviour which does not confirm to society's norms and values and, if detected, is likely to lead to negative sanctions. Deviance is not illegal.

What is negative sanction?
In the process of social control and socialization, negative sanction punish those who do not confirm to the group's expectations, for example by ignoring them or using argument to try to get them to change their behaviour.

What is Corporate crime?
Crimes commited by employees on behalf of the company or oragization they work for. Examples include the manufacture and sale of unsafe products.

The process of blaming an indidual or group of something that is not their fault.

This refers broadly to crimes commited by people in realitively high-status postion, such as accountants, doctor or solictors, during their work.

Social order occurs when society is stable, ordered and runs smoothly, without contienal distruption.

What is social control?
How they control society. There are two types of this formal and informal.

What is informal social control?
Based on social processes such as- approval and disapproval of others. Informal social control is enforced via social pressure. This includes peergroups and families.

What is formal social control?
Based on written laws and rules. Formal social control is usally associated with thye ways the state regualtes and control our behaviour. This included the police force , the courts and prision.
