NORMS
These are unwritten rules about how we should behave in society.

These are beliefs about what is important. They are the reasons for the norms.

PRIMARY SOCIALISATION
Learning norms and values as a young child from your parents and family.

SECONDARY SOCIALISATION
Learning norms and values in later childhood from school, the media, and friends.

INFORMAL SOCIAL CONTROL
This is when people conform to norms and rules because otherwise they will receive disapproval or criticism from their family, friends and peer groups.

FORMAL SOCIAL CONTROL
This is when behavior is controlled through organisations that exist that enforce order. For example; the government, police, and prison service.

SOCIAL ISSUES
Problems with and which arise withing society. For example; anti-social behavior.
