What are the basic assumptions of the SLT?
Meditational processes, lie in-between stimulus and response, influence our behaviour. Observational learning has 4 conditions: attention, retention, motor reproduction + motivation. Learning can happen by direct or VICARIOUS (indirect) REINFORCEMENT

BOBO DOLL - Showed 3-6 yr old boys/girls video with kids similar age behaving aggressively to the doll. The adult in the film either: 1: commented + on the behaviour, 2: commented - , 3: made no comment. Kids placed in room with doll, behaviour obser

What were the results and conclusion from Bandura's Study?
Found boys tended to show greater aggression to the doll than girls, even though they had been exposed to the same behaviour. Girls responded more to the negative comments. Led Bandura to conclude children learn by observing models

What are the STRENGTHS of the SLT?
STRENGTHS: Takes into account cognitive processes involved in learning. Uses both experimental and non-experimental methods. Has been applied to many areas of psychology + provided effective explanation of behaviour eg. gender roles

What are the WEAKNESSES of the SLT?
WEAKNESSES: Doesn't fully explain individual differences - subjective. Doesn't account for all behaviour e.g..criminal behaviour as we may not have observed that before
