7 of 13
Why were these pieces of research conducted? (IDA)
they were conducted to provide evidence that the theory is a cultural universal and whether it is impacted by nature as well as nurture.
8 of 13
What is a key IDA point?
The theory is determinist, it suggests that simply the environment shapes peoples gender roles. for example the women in the Mungudugumor community, it states their behaviour is a result of the men being away a lot = more aggressive behaviour.
9 of 13
What is one good thing about the studies? (AO3)
they managed to collect extensive data from various cultures which increases the external validity.
10 of 13
What is one bad thing with the research? (AO3)
they could result in culturally bias results, if the behaviours are misinterpretted and where the data is not analysed objectively.
11 of 13
Why is there an issue for external reliability? (AO3)
when the results were re-tested they did not give the same results, the results should be similar in order for the research to be considered reliable.
12 of 13
Why is the research useful? (Wider evaluation)
the research is useful as it shows gender may be more flexible then people percieve it to be.
