Conformity
The alteration of someone's opinions and behaviors due to other people and the typical morals of a society or cultural group.

Internalisation
A deep type of conformity where we take on the majority view because we accept it as correct. This is permanent.

Identification
A moderate type of conformity where we act with the group because we want to be a part of it but we do not necessarily agree with everything they believe.

Compliance
A temporary type of conformity where we go along with the group but actually disagree with it. Only while the group is there.

Group size
As Asch increases the group size (the majority) conformity also increases to a point then levels off.

Unanimity
In Asch's study when all the confederates chose the same line the participants also chose this line making a unanimous vote. The greatest degree of conformity.

As Asch made the task more difficult by making it harder to see which line was the right one conformity increased due to informational social influence.

Obedience
A form of social influence in which an individual follows direct orders usually from an authority figure.

The physical closeness/distance of an authority figure to the person they are giving an order to (i.e. in the same room)
