The sense we have about what directs us in life. Internals - believe they are mostly responsible for what happens to them. Externals - Believe its due to luck or other forces

Improves the effect of minority influence- Minority keeps same views over time= draws attention

Improves the power of the minority influence- shows dedication and that the individuals is not just acting out of self-interest
