Internalisation
When we take on the majority view because we accept it as correct. It's the deepest type of conformity, occuring even when the group is absent.

Identification
When we act in the same way as a group because we want to be a part of it but we may not privately agree. This is the middling strong type of conformity.

Compliance
Going along with a group publicily but privately not changing our opinions, this is the weakest type of conformity.

Informational social influence
We agree with the majority because we believe that they're right. We accept it because we want to be right aswell

Normative social influence
e agree with the opinion of the majority because we want to be accepted, gain social influence and be liked.

Agentic state
A mental state where we feel no personal responsibility for our behavior because we believe ourselves to be acting for an authority figure

Legitimacy of authority
An explanation for obedience which suggests that we're more likely to obey people who we perceive to have authority over us.

Dispositional explanation
Any explanation of behaviour that highlights the importance of the individuals personality

Authoritarian personality
A type of personality that was especially susceptible to obeying people in authroity

Internal locus of control
They believe we are responsible for what happens to us

They believe that it's mainly a matter of luck and external forces that influence what happens to us
