Nature is an individuals innate genetic, inherited qualities. Nature is effected by your biology. e.g. eye,skin,hair colour and height

Nuture refers to how in individual is socialised. How they are raised and is effected by the social and environmental situations they are in.

Individual agency refer to how we internally create or identities.

We label others eg. Male, Goth. We categorise ourselves into a label. We compare ourselves to others,if there are people who we feel are better than us we may start to associate ourselves with them and take upon a new identity.

Woodward argued that our identity is created and maintained through others. The way others see us affects our identities both positively and negatively. She called this interpellation.

Mead argued we use our behaviour to express our identities. we use certain symbols to show what we identify as for example a Goth may wear black clothing to express their Gothic identity. He argued others start to associate meanings to our behaviour

Goffman argued that we are all actors as we realise how others perceive us leading us to change our behaviour to fit how we want to portray our identity. Eg. wearing proffesional clothing to an interview and wearing casual clothing at home.
