What Happens in Stage 1 of Sleeping?
Light, drowsy sleep. Brainwaves and muscle activity slow down. Eyes moves slowly.​

Loss of conscious awareness. Slow brain waves with occasional bursts of activity. No eye movement.​

Deep sleep. Very slow brain waves, No eye or muscle movement. ​

Deep sleep and very slow brain waves. No eye or muscle movement. Very difficult to wake people.​

Most dreaming happens. Rapid eye movement but muscles are temporarily paralyzed.​

What is the Pineal Gland?
The pineal gland is an endocrine gland at the centre of the brain. It produces the hormone called melationin, which is responsible for sending us to sleep. During the day, the pineal gland is not active but it is 'switched on' as night falls.
