Define Amplitude
The maximum displacement from equilibrium of an oscillating object.

Define simple harmonic motion
Simple harmonic motion is the motion of an object if its acceleration is proportional to the displacement of the object from equilibrium and is always directed towards the equilibrium position.

What determines the frequency of oscillation of a loaded spring?
The frequency is reduced by: Adding extra mass (to increase the inertia of the system) and using weaker springs (to reduce the restoring force)

Define critical damping
Critical damping reduces the amplitude in the shortest possible time.

Define resonance
The amplitude of vibration of an oscillating system subjected to a periodic force is largest when the periodic force has the same frequency as the resonant frequency of the system.
